Frequently Asked Questions: Torque
Do I need to send in all of my extensions and adaptors?
It is usually not necessary to send any extensions or adaptors; we have most of them available at our lab. The Snap-on TQR series only requires that the handle be sent to us because we have the rest of this wrench. This will save you time and money in shipping.
My handle lock is broken. Can you repair this?
We have parts to repair most torque wrenches. The repair charge is usually around $10.00.
How do you determine your calibration cost on torque wrenches?
The charge is based on the drive size; this usually coordinates with the capacity of the wrench. The only additional charge could be for handle lock parts or replacing a worn pivot block.
What additional charges can I expect in addition to the flat rate certification cost?
The only extra charge would be any repairs for damaged or worn parts. In most cases you know if the handle lock does not work or the ratchet is broken before you send the wrench to us. Sometimes a small internal block is worn and needs replaced to bring the accuracy within the manufacturer's specification.
Can you certify torque multipliers?
Yes, up to 2500 Ft. Lbs. capacity.
What torque wrench brands can you repair?
We have parts to repair all brands of new (10 to 15 years) torque wrenches. The problem with repairing older wrenches is that the manufacturer will not have any parts available for discontinued tools
At what settings do you test our torque wrench?
We test at 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100% of maximum range in both directions, if the wrench is capable of testing both ways.
